The design and the brand or maker also contributes on how expensive it is. For the not-so-rich, gaining jewelry is not even a need and not even a priority. Possessing some is already a luxury and even worth more than the money that is used in buying it in the first place. Not all jewelries are similar, even their prices. The higher the quality of the metal, the more expensive it gets. Mixtures with other metals are done to reduce their prices. There are instances of creating fake jewelries, this is where coating is done to make a replica of a genuine item. It is also considered as an art and the older the pieces are, the more valuable it is. Ancient jewelry collections are a a hobby for some. Academically, it also makes us determine how our past evolves and how ancient cultures thrived and lived.
